Casey Walker is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in the psychiatry department at Dayton Children's. He has experience working in the emergency department and in the inpatient behavioral health unit. His experience in those two departments has equipped him to provide the best psychiatric care to children in need.
I discovered that my favorite part of being a nurse was talking with the patients and their families and helping to put their mind at ease. After working in the specialty on an inpatient setting, I fell in love with the population and felt that was where I belonged.
You can try to make coming to the hospital fun! Kids are so creative and have imaginations that run wild at times, always keeping me on my toes. You never know what they might say, and I love that.
I have always enjoyed working with kids and the experience that patients and their families receive at Dayton Children's is unlike any other place I have been. You can feel the hope when you walk around the hospital.
You can feel the liveliness when you walk into the hospital. It hardly feels like a hospital, and you can see it on the kiddos faces. Dayton Children's helps to make very difficult times a little more bearable.
I enjoy many different hobbies, including acoustic guitar, hiking, camping, disc golf, and basically any sport.
