The orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy department at Dayton Children's is part of the rehabilitation and therapy department and is co-located with our orthopedics and sports medicine department.
Our licensed team of highly trained pediatric specialists are ready to treat infants, kids, teens and young adults in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Our pediatric physical therapists hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree and are licensed by the state of Ohio and complete continuing education in pediatrics in order to stay on top of the latest treatment methods and develop the best treatment strategies for our patients. Our therapist average at least ten years of experience of working exclusively with orthopaedic and sports medicine patients.

Sportsmetrics™ and ACL injury prevention
Sportsmetrics™ is the first program scientifically proven to decrease knee injuries in athletes, especially females. Neuromuscular training not only increases muscular power and jump height, but also decreases impact forces at the knee helping young athletes avoid non-contact ACL injuries and improve performance. Sportsmetrics™ is the program that focuses on the female athlete’s needs in training, but Sportsmetrics™ is not just for females! Males will also benefit from developing overall leg strength and perfecting jumping and landing mechanics.

The Access Strength™ features an electronic dial that simply rotates to select the desired weight. This innovation provides a display that’s easy to read and reach at all times. The cloud technology removes the burden of remembering exercises, machine setup, or even how much weight to use. In addition, everything your child performs during their workout is automatically captured. Available through any computer or tablet, you can review your child's workout and progress over time.
