Learning to drive is a big milestone—and while it can feel overwhelming, it’s also an exciting step toward independence. Dayton Children’s is here to help you and your teen feel confident and prepared for the road ahead.
In 2024, Dayton Children’s saw a 40% increase in teen driving-related injuries compared to 2023. Even more concerning, the severity of those injuries is also on the rise. That’s why we created the Navigating Teen Driving Together program—to offer expert guidance, practical tips, and free tools to help your teen build safe driving habits, with confidence, from the start.
Getting an Ohio driver’s license requires 50 hours of supervised driving and completion of a driving school for teens under 18—but being a safe, confident driver takes more than just checking boxes. Our program also covers how to handle car emergencies, the basics of car maintenance, what it really means to be a responsible driver and more.
Together, you and your teen can make sure they’re safe and prepared for anything the road may bring.
