personal, well-coordinated care for hospitalized kids
Pediatric hospitalists are physicians who care for children who have been admitted to the hospital.
A pediatric hospitalist will be involved in your child’s care during an inpatient stay at Dayton Children’s to some degree or another. The hospitalist may be your child’s “attending physician.” When a hospitalist is your child’s attending physician, he or she is ultimately responsible for carrying out the plan of care.
In other situations, a different doctor may serve as your child’s attending physician. Depending on your child’s needs, this doctor might be the pediatric surgeon; a subspecialist, such as a pediatric neurologist; or your child’s primary care physician. When this is the case, the pediatric hospitalist will still be involved in your child’s inpatient care, by helping to address any general issues and concerns.
