Nutrition is vital for children to grow, develop, and learn. Good nutrition can help your child to feel physically and mentally well. Poor nutrition can impact or lead to a variety of medical conditions and can influence how quickly a child will heal and recover from an illness or surgery.
At Dayton Children’s, our team of registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) and nutrition and dietetics technicians, registered (NDTRs) are specially trained in pediatric, adolescent, and young adult nutrition. Our team members can help you determine the right nutrition for your child while supporting you, your child, and family to make healthy lifestyle changes that can improve physical and mental well-being.
Our dietitians see patients during overnight stays at the hospital and during outpatient clinic visits in nutrition clinic and other team clinics like Healthy Me, diabetes and endocrinology, pulmonology, hematology and oncology, gastroenterology, Dayton Children’s Pediatrics, and developmental pediatrics clinics.
We also work closely with the food service team at Dayton Children’s to ensure our patients have access to nutritious foods while still having kid friendly choices. For infants and children receiving human milk or formula while inpatient, our clinical nutrition lab technicians and dietitians work together with your child’s provider to ensure the right recipe and amount for human milk and formula to meet your child’s nutrition needs.
