Fostering wellness for families of children with chronic disorders in pediatric practice

Objectives:
- Recognize the prevalence and negative impact of parent and family stress when a child is diagnosed with a disabling or life-threating disorder.
- Identify specific contributors to family stress under these circumstances.
- Explore opportunities and barriers for mitigation of this stress in a pediatric chronic care model.
- Review a small but growing body of evidence concerning the feasibility and outcomes of interventions for family stress.
