K99.1FM cares for kids radiothon
Every November, the K99.1FM Cares for Kids Radiothon raises money to provide high-quality pediatric health care to infants, children and teens throughout the region. Radio hosts Nancy Wilson and Frye Guy broadcast live from the Dayton Children's lobby, talking to patients and families while asking listeners to call in and make a contribution. Since K99.1FM began airing the radiothon in 1998, they have raised over millions of dollars to help Dayton Children's provide the best pediatric care for children when they are sick or injured.
Throughout the region many schools are dancing for a cause by holding dance marathons in which students dance for 12, 15 or 24 hours straight to raise money for Dayton Children’s. Dance Marathons are engaging programs at both high schools and colleges and any student group can begin a new dance marathon program at their school. Students involved in planning for the dance marathon event spend a year gaining leadership, teamwork, and nonprofit business experience while raising funds and interacting with hospital patients and families. Currently we have Dance Marathon’s at the University of Dayton, Wright State University and Wittenburg University.
Many businesses in the area sell Children's Miracle Network balloons and other icons throughout the year. All the money raised in the Dayton area and the twenty county service region directly benefits Dayton Children's. Many of these companies may also have change collection jars or conduct special events during the year and we urge you to actively participate.
