Injury Prevention Coordinator-Child Passenger Safety

As the Child Passenger Safety Injury Prevention Coordinator, Alexa implements child passenger safety and injury prevention programming. Alexa serves as a hospital, community and regional resource for child passenger safety. She manages the Ohio Regional Occupant Protection (OPRC) program grant through the Ohio Department of Health by monitoring the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes county sites in region 2. Alexa is a Co-Coordinator for Safe Kids Greater Dayton. She aims to improve the use of safety seats and safety seat installation misuse rate by helping to educate parents and caregivers as to the proper use of their safety seats. She is also an advocate for preventing distracted driving and educating teens and parents of teens on teen driving safety.

Alexa has her Bachelor of Science degree from Otterbein University in allied health with a minor in nutrition. Following her undergraduate degree, she continued her education at Wright State University. There she received her Master of Public Health, concentrating in health promotion and education. Alexa is a certified health education specialist as well as a certified child passenger safety technician.
