Dayton Children’s celebrates gift from longtime Dayton business

Today, we are celebrating a big milestone thanks to the White family and White-Allen Automotive Group for their generous donation of $300,000 to the Reaching New Heights capital campaign. This leadership gift catapults the hospital past a historic milestone of $25 million dollars in community support for the building of our new patient tower in the center of our main campus on Valley Street.

The donation comes at the perfect time, as we are just a week away from the grand opening. The White’s gift is supporting a playroom located on our seventh floor Specialty Pediatric Care Unit.

“We support this project not only as longtime business leaders committed to the growth and success of Dayton, but as a grateful family as well,” says Tim White, Jr.  “Two generations of White family children have been cared for at Dayton Children’s – including me and my youngest son– and I know how important it is to have the highest level of care focused just for kids so close to home.”

“Throughout Dayton Children’s rich history, philanthropy has always played a major role,” says Jena Pado, CFRE, chief development officer at Dayton Children’s. “So to continue that legacy and ensure that every member of the Dayton community can be a part of this historic project, we will continue the Reaching New Heights capital campaign until we open the front doors to the new tower and hopefully greatly exceed our original minimum goal.”

The Reaching New Heights capital campaign supports the $160 million transformation of our 155-bed hospital.  Thanks to excellent financial stewardship, the rest of the project has been covered by hospital resources and financing.

“Philanthropy is what takes this project from good to great,” says Deborah A. Feldman, president and CEO of Dayton Children’s. “It’s the generous community support that will ensure that our children continue to have the special features they need in a great children’s hospital close to home.”
