Abraxas Youth and Family Services

Abraxas Ohio, located in Shelby, Ohio provides residential treatment services to adolescent males and outpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults. Abraxas has been serving youth and families for over 30 years through partnerships with juvenile court systems and child caring agencies throughout the state of Ohio. We have continued to expand our service offerings as the needs of adolescents and their families have increased in complexity.

Many clients referred to our programs have co-occurring conditions such as substance use and mental health disorders, family dysfunction, trauma and abuse histories. We utilize multiple evidence and competency-based curricula. We have adopted the trauma-informed care principles of the Sanctuary® Model as a foundation for treatment. We are promoting safety and recovery through the active creation of a trauma-informed community at Abraxas Ohio.

Abraxas Ohio has three service lines:

Achieve Together Behavior Services specializes in Autism for ages 2 to 21. They accept all major insurances, single case agreements if needed, private pay, fee schedule, county funding, and Jon Peterson Autism Scholarship.

Kim Sellers, MSW, LISW-S, LLC, and M. Julie Clendenden, LPCC, LLC provide counseling services for children ages 12 and older with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, grief, and more. Adena Counseling Center specializes in adolescent behavior, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar and other mood disorders, depression, drug and alcohol addiction support, family/relationship issues, PTSD and trauma issues, grief and loss, and interpersonal conflict/relationship issues for the ages of 5 and up. 

They accept most private insurance, as well as Medicaid and Medicaid HMO's.
