Dayton Children’s pediatric audiology department takes pride in offering comprehensive audiological services to children with hearing loss. Services range from newborn infant hearing screening, basic audiometric evaluations and auditory brainstem response evaluations to fitting hearing aids and cochlear implants.
Conditions We Treat
- Conductive hearing loss
- Sensori-neural hearing loss
- Mixed hearing loss
- Monitoring of children at risk for hearing loss (hematology/oncology patients, children with genetic syndromes, etc.)
Services We Offer
- Newborn infant hearing screenings (birth to 6 months)
- Basic audiological evaluations (6 months to 21 years)
- Double team evaluations - two audiologists (any age if patient is difficult to test or developmentally impaired)
- Auditory brainstem evoked response - threshold assessment (any age)
- Hearing aid selection, fitting and follow-up (any age)
- Cochlear implant evaluation, fitting and device programming (12 months to 21 years)
- Aural rehabilitative therapy (any age child with hearing loss)
- Hematology/oncology monitoring (any age child receiving ototoxic drug therapy)
- Custom swim-mold - any age child with medical reason or desire to keep water out of ears during bathing or swimming
