Emily Gordon, 9 years old from Springboro, decided she wanted to raise money for Dayton Children’s. Emily and her brother have both been patients and felt this was something they could do to give back to the hospital.
One day Emily phoned the development office asking if she could get change jars to place in local businesses. With her mother’s help, Emily has placed 12 canisters and raised $779.14 for Dayton Children’s. “Emily is an amazing young girl with a can-do attitude,” says Debbie Butner, Children’s Miracle Network manager. “She isn’t afraid to ask and always calls to tell me how she’s doing.”
Emily came on the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon in June to present what she has raised. She showed that no matter your age, you can make a difference just by simply asking for change. Emily’s example of philanthropy shows how that can add up.
