Fourth Graders at Holy Angels School

Dayton Children's received a wonderful $125 donation on July 1 from the fourth grade class at Holy Angels School in Dayton. The following note came from their teacher, Ann Vendely:

"The children raised the money by collecting their own gently used toys, books and stuffed animals and selling these items to the primary grade children a their classroom 'garage sale.' The fourth graders made posters announcing their sale, sent invitations to the younger students, organized the items, conducted the sale, and acted as cashiers. All items sold for $.25 or less. One corner of the room was reserved for the raffle: larger items, such as a Barbie doll house, a home-made cake, and a beautiful teddy bear, were raffled off for $.10 per ticket. The children had a wonderful time and are delighted to have raised money for Children's Medical Center. They hope that their donation can be used to help children who are suffering."

We love it when kids help other kids. Their ideas are so creative. What a wonderful achievement and we are so appreciative for the support!

The Dayton Police Department and the Dayton Fire Department have teamed up with the Dayton Dragons to host “Battle of the Badges,” a charity softball game, on June 23, 2013 to benefit the CARE House. The Dragons host the Lansing Lugnuts at 4 PM that afternoon and the softball game between Dayton’s finest will follow.
