Dayton Children's provides an opportunity for teens to experience the satisfaction of volunteering and sharing their time with others during the summer months. Our volunteen program is designed to help teens learn valuable skills that will serve them for a lifetime.
Applications are accepted from February 1 through February 10. Teens must submit an application to be eligible. The program is limited to 100 teens.
Program Requirements
- Teens must be 15 years old by June 1, 2012.
- New applicants must be submitted between February 1 and February 10, 2012. Applications are prioritized based on the date they are received.
- No teen application will be accepted after February 10.
- Interviews will take place in February, March and April.
- Information regarding specific areas for volunteering will be provided prior to the interview.
- Teens accepted into the Volunteen program must be able to attend the orientation session on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 5:30 pm in order to participate in summer 2012.
- Teens may begin as soon as school is out.
- This is a nine-week commitment for the summer.
- Teens may continue to volunteer during the school year once the summer commitment is fulfilled.

Volunteen Requirements
- Teens must be at least 15 years old by June 1 to participate.
- The Volunteen program is based on an application-interview process.
- Teens are required to volunteer for one four hour block of time once a week for a nine week period in the summer.
- Teens are scheduled weekdays only between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
- Orientation and health work requirements are the same as for adult volunteers. Teens must be able to attend the scheduled May orientation session.
