New role will focus on building an exceptional experience for every patient and family

Vickie M. Peoples, executive director of Children’s Home Care of Dayton, has been named vice president of patient and family experience for Dayton Children’s Hospital, effective June 3. In this position, Peoples will be responsible for developing a comprehensive patient and family experience strategy and will provide leadership around building systems, processes and culture that enables a very positive, high quality and safe experience for the patients and families Dayton Children’s serves.
Peoples brings more than 30 years experience in children’s health care and has led Children’s Home Care since its inception in 1992. She also has led Dayton Children’s efforts to expand its specialty care services into communities, overseeing the development of outpatient specialty care centers in Lima, Middletown and Springfield.
“Patient and family experience is a significant focus of our strategic roadmap we refer to as Destination 2020. With Vickie’s extensive experience in children’s health care, she’s the right person to lead our efforts to deliver an excepetional experience for every patient and family we care for,” says Matt Graybill, chief operating officer of Dayton Children’s.
Peoples, who resides in Centerville, has been with Dayton Children’s most of her career, having started at Dayton Children’s as a staff nurse. She also worked as a nurse manager in the early 90s at Lucile Salter Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford in Palo Alto, California. She returned to Dayton Children’s in 1992 to lead the start up of Children’s Home Care. She holds a master’s in business administration and a bachelor’s of science in nursing from Wright State University.
Multiple non-direct patient care departments will report to Peoples in this role including biomedical engineering, environmental services, dietary and nutrition, facilities, home care, patient relations, pharmacy, security, safety and volunteer services/gift shop.
