Container:Anaerobic culturette or capped syringe without needle
Temperature:Room temperature transport to lab within 1 hour
Rejection:Specimen not received in anaerobic transport tube or uncapped syringe with needle. Refrigerated sample is not acceptable.
Normal:No growth or normal flora
Uses:Identify microorganisms that may cause infection.
Limitations:Antibiotic therapy may inhibit growth Culture is more sensitive than gram stain Contamination with adjacent areas should be avoided.
