Container:Anaerobic Blood Culture Bottle
Temperature:Room temperature
Rejection:Not received at proper temperature or at room temperature for more than 72 hours.
Normal:No anaerobic growth at 5 days.
Uses:Identify microorganisms that may cause infection.
Limitations:Antibiotic therapy may inhibit growth. A negative culture does not necessarily rule out infection. Recommend no more than two (or two sets) of blood cultures in a 24 hour period for possible acute infections.
