Temperature:Room temperature. Refrigerate if transport is delayed more than one hour.
Rejection:N/A
Normal:Negative for HSV by PCR
Uses:Detection of Herpes simplex virus I and II by PCR. This test performed on CSF or swabs of wounds/vesicles.
Limitations:A negative result does not necessarily rule out infection.
