Child Advocacy

In 1994, Dayton Children's was designated a regional medical center of excellence in child abuse and neglect by the Ohio Department of Human Services.

The CARE clinic (child abuse review and evaluation) at Dayton Children's provides medical examination and follow-up care for cases of suspected or alleged child maltreatment. Physician consultation for inpatients is also available.

CARE House, Montgomery County's child advocacy center, houses the county's multidisciplinary child abuse team, CARE team. Additional services are available through Dayton Children's departments of psychology and social work.

In February 2008, the Child Advocacy Center of Warren County was created on the campus of Atrium Medical Center. It is housed inside Dayton Children's Speciality Care Center - Warren County.

In December 2008, Michael's House opened in Fairborn (Greene county) to serve children who are suffering from all forms of abuse.

All three advocacy centers are a national model for child advocacy. They are designed, furnished and staffed to promote healing.
