Palliative Care-Inpatient services
The inpatient palliative care team is a consult service which provides inpatient care for children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses and their families. The inpatient program goal is to also provide family-centered care that respects the dignity and uniqueness of each child and family. Services provided are determined by the family and in coordination with the Children's Care and Comfort Program at Children's Home Care of Dayton. The child's primary attending physicians and medical team work with the inpatient palliative care team to provide emotional support, pain/symptom management, massage therapy, education, care coordination and bereavement support. The inpatient team will work with the family to provide a similar plan of care as has been implemented at home.
