pharmacy services at Dayton Children’s
Children’s bodies process medications differently than adults, so each prescription must be carefully prepared and reviewed. Our pharmacists have advanced training in pediatric pharmacology and work closely with your child’s care team to ensure the safest and most effective treatment possible.
Our pharmacy team provides:
- Inpatient and clinic prescription services – medications for children admitted to the hospital, seen in our clinics, or referred by outside providers
- Emergency department prescriptions – ensuring continuity of care after an emergency visit
- Home infusion services – including total parenteral and enteral nutrition, antibiotics, hydration, chemotherapy, blood products and other specialized therapies
- Medication education and support – helping families understand home medication regimens before discharge
- Drug information resource center – expert answers to pediatric medication questions for providers and families
our pharmacists’ commitment
Our pharmacists are integral members of every patient’s care team. They review all medication orders for accuracy, safety and appropriate dosing for each child’s age, size and condition. When it’s time to go home, our team takes time to make sure families understand exactly how to give each medication safely and confidently.
