health and wellness
Dayton Children’s medical insurance plan is offered through Anthem for employees and their families. At Dayton Children’s, the hospital pays 85 percent the cost of medical plan premiums and full-time employees pay 15 percent, which is highly competitive compared to other local hospitals. Smiles are important here at Dayton Children’s, which is why we offer dental insurance for employees and their families through Superior Dental Care. Both a standard and premium plan are available.
Dayton Children’s vision insurance plans are available through Vision Care Plan.
employee assistance program
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and work life program is provided by Impact Solutions. The EAP is available to all employees, their immediate family members, their dependents and in-laws. The EAP is free and confidential and can help you with problems such as balancing work and family, crisis, relationships, grief and loss, dependent care, career, mental/emotional, addictions, etc.
short term disability
Dayton Children's offers shor term disability to employees. This allows employees to receive coverage at 100 percent for the first 90 days of approved time off and 70 percent for days 91-179.
long-term disability insurance
Eligible Dayton Children’s employees who are not able to work for an extended period of time due to illness or injury, are able to purchase long-term disability insurance through The Hartford.
Dayton Children’s also offers Aflac insurance to all employees. Aflac provides additional insurance for critical illnesses or accidents.
Healthy Way Clinic for Employee Wellness
Dayton Children’s Healthy Way Center for Employee Wellness is available to all employees regardless of their enrollment in the hospital’s medical benefits. The clinic is located immediately across the street from Dayton Children’s at 741 Valley Street. The clinic provides a convenient, low-cost option for employees to receive primary care for minor illnesses and injuries, right here on Dayton Children’s campus.
At Dayton Children’s the health and wellness of our employees is a top priority. We partner with the Kroc Center (just one mile from Dayton Children’s) and the YMCA to provide a discounted gym membership to employees. We also offer employee wellness benefits such as on roaming massages and classes such as Zumba, Yoga, Weight Watchers and stress management.
life, retirement and financial benefits
We offer employees a 401(k) retirement plan through Transamerica. All full-time and part-time employees are eligible for the retirement plan* and Dayton Children’s will match contributions up to four percent of an employee’s pay. If you have an existing retirement plan with a prior employer, you may rollover that account into this plan at any time.
* Pool private duty nurses and contract employees are not eligible.
Full-time and part-time A and B employees are provided group term life insurance through The Hartford by the hospital at twice their annual salary at no cost to the employee. You have the opportunity to purchase additional coverage of one to four times your salary.
health savings account
Dayton Children’s offers a generous employer health savings account contribution for employees covered by Dayton Children’s health insurance plan. Employees are able to contribute to their HSA to pay for health related expenses. Employees must complete a biometric screening (cholesterol, A1C, blood pressure) in order to receive the hospital’s employer paid quarterly contribution. Biometrics can be done at Dayton Children’s Healthy Way Center for Employee Wellness or by your family doctor.

The flexible spending account allows employees to set aside a fixed amount of pre-tax wages for covered health care or dependent care expenses.
paid time off
Dayton Children’s offers employees paid-time off benefits based upon their job classification and their years of service.
parental and bereavement leave
100 percent fully paid parental leave for up to 6 weeks within the first year after the birth of the baby. Parental leave consists of maternity, paternity, adoption and foster care. Employees will receive parental leave in addition to short-term disability for maternity leave for a minimum of 12-paid weeks off. Parental leave time must be taken in consecutive weeks with the exception of foster parents who can take leave in one-week increments due to the nature of fostering. Employees must be employed at the hospital for 12 months prior to taking parental leave.
Bereavement leave at 100 percent of salary.

Dayton Children’s is proud to be a nicotine free organization. To protect both our patient families and our staff the entire campus at Dayton Children’s is off limits to nicotine usage.
Dayton Children’s encourages employee participation in external educational activities by providing tuition assistance for courses taken at accredited colleges and universities. Tuition assistance is available to full-time and part-time employees.

Dayton Children’s offers convenient payroll deduction for employees to use in the cafeteria, gift shop, pharmacy, employee health clinic and to make donations back to the hospital.

Having a sound financial future is important for all employees, regardless of income. Free financial counseling is offered to employees through Wright-Patt Credit Union.
