As the sun came up, about 100 students at Ruskin PreK-8 School joined children around the country to celebrate International Walk to School Day on October 8. There were more than 1,000 International Walk to School Day activities as part of the Safe Kids Walk This Way pedestrian safety program sponsored by FedEx.

Safe Kids Greater Dayton, Dayton Children’s Hospital and FedEx volunteers walked together with children at Ruskin PreK-8 School to advocate for safer walking environments for school children. They also handed out some fun items as the kids arrived, such as t-shirts, cups and bags. Representatives from Ruskin, Dayton Public Schools, the Dayton Police Department, East End Community Services and Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County so helped get the kids to the classroom safely.
