Dayton Children’s welcomes new sleep center director and pediatric intensive care unit physician

Samuel Dzodzomenyo, MD, joins Dayton Children's as the medical director of the Pediatric Sleep Center. Dr. Dzodzomenyo comes from the sleep medicine department at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. He is fellowship trained in sleep medicine and neurology, board certified in sleep medicine and neurology, with special qualification in child neurology. 

Dr. Dzodzomenyo received his medical degree from the University of Science and Technology Medical School in Ghana and completed his pediatric residency at Metropolitan Hospital/New York Medical College in New York. He completed a fellowship in child and adult neurology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and received special training in sleep medicine at The Ohio State University. 

He has special interest in sleep disorders, neuromuscular diseases, movement disorders, headaches and neurofibromatosis.

Aniket Joshi, MD, joins the department of critical care medicine and Dayton Children's award-winning pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) team. Dr. Joshi joins us from the pediatric intensive care unit at Women and Children's Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia. He is fellowship trained in pediatric critical care medicine from UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital/Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach in Los Angeles, California and board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. 

Dr. Joshi received his medical degree from B J Medical College in Pune, India and completed pediatric residencies at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Pune, India, and at University of Illinois, in Chicago. He also completed a Masters Scholars program at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. 

About Dayton Children's Pediatric Sleep Center:
The pediatric sleep center at The Children's Medical Center of Dayton is one of a small number of pediatric sleep centers in the country accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The sleep laboratory is supervised by a physician board certified in sleep medicine, employs a fully credentialed polysomnographic technologist and has access to a wide range of pediatric subspecialists. Inpatient and outpatient sleep studies are scheduled Sunday through Friday. Efforts are made to accommodate working parents. 

About Dayton Children's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit:
The pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at Dayton Children's is staffed by a group of board-certified/board-eligible pediatric intensivists (physicians specializing in critical care medicine). It is the only intensive care unit in the region with this focus. The PICU is part of the Wallace Critical Care Complex, which set a new standard of care for the region's critically ill or injured children when it opened in June 2006. Dayton Children's Wallace Critical Care Complex was recently recognized with the 2007 ICU Design Citation Award.
