Dayton Children’s receives platinum eHealthcare Leadership award for 'Best Social Networking'
The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton received the only platinum eHealthcare Leadership award for Social Networking on November 14 during the Sixteenth Annual Healthcare Internet Conference. Winners of the 2012 eHealthcare Leadership Awards were selected from nearly 1,100 entries. A total of 115 individuals familiar with healthcare and the Internet judged the entries.
Winners of platinum, gold, silver, and distinction awards represented 18 industry classifications, from hospitals and health systems to pharmaceutical firms and online health companies. Dayton Children’s was awarded the platinum Best Social Networking award for Hospitals with 100-199 beds. No other organization within any classification received a platinum award for social networking. This is the first year that the eHealthcare Leadership Awards offered a Best Social Networking category.
“We are very proud to have received the platinum award for Best Social Networking,” says Kelly Kavanaugh, director of marketing communications at Dayton Children’s. “We were early pioneers with the use of social media to reach our consumers and have continued to build on this ever-present and interactive media to engage parents and connect with them in a way they prefer.
Currently Dayton Children’s uses the following social networking tools; Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, the every kid counts blog, and YouTube. The Dayton Children’s Facebook page recently hit a milestone of reaching over 10,000 likes.
