David Kinsaul receives a Child Voice Award

The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton’s professional staff awarded Dayton Children’s President and CEO, David Kinsaul with A Child’s Voice Award during their professional staff meeting on Monday, June 4, 2012. The award is given every two years to a member of the professional staff and also, when warranted, to a community leader. To receive the honor, one must demonstrate outstanding efforts on behalf of children and must lead in the development of programs that improve the health and well-being of the children of the Miami Valley.

Kinsaul has served for nine years as the president and CEO of Dayton Children’s and will retire at the end of June. During his time as CEO, he demonstrated a strong passion for improving the health and well-being of children.

“Even during challenging times, he remained steadfast in his dedication to continuously improve quality and patient safety,” says Jeffrey Christian, MD, chairman of the professional staff at Dayton Children’s. “That dedication paid dividends as Dayton Children’s has continued be one of the nation’s most respected pediatric hospitals as evidenced by numerous national and state awards for quality and patient safety.”

Kinsaul has been extremely active in the community and has served in leadership positions for numerous community organizations.  He serves on the boards of the Dayton Development Coalition, the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Greater Dayton. He is also a member of the Special Wish Advisory Committee, Montgomery County Family and Children First Council, US Bank Advisory Board, and was in the Leadership Dayton class of 2005.

Kinsaul has also contributed to the pediatric health care profession by serving in leadership roles on the boards of the Child Health Corporation of America, the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions, the Ohio Children’s Hospital Association and the Ohio Hospital Association.

Lastly, Kinsaul led a renewed and focused emphasis on patient satisfaction during his tenure at Dayton Children’s. He helped to establish a goal to raise the composite patient satisfaction score for inpatient and outpatient services above 90 and keep it there. Dayton Children’s began with a score of 88.5 and recently hit a new organizational high of 91.6.

 “We are thankful for David’s service to both Dayton Children’s and the community over the past nine years. He is incredibly worthy of this prestigious honor,” says Christian.

The professional staff also presented a $10,000 donation in David and Beth Kinsaul's honor to the building campaign for a new CARE House, Montgomery County's child advocacy center.

About A Child’s Voice Award:

The “A Child’s Voice” award was created in 2000 by the professional staff executive committee at Dayton Children’s to recognize physicians as well as local, state and national leaders who go above the call of duty in the area of child advocacy.
