clinical practice guidelines

Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) provide a roadmap for the diagnosis and treatment of specific childhood illnesses and diseases. CPGs also allow for an approach to patient care that is consistent. These have been developed by clinical teams at Dayton Children’s that include the physician specialists, nurses and other key disciplines. The guidelines use evidence-based practices that have worked across the country. While CPGs are useful tools, they are no substitute for a licensed independent practitioner (LIP). LIPs (physicians) are highly trained professionals that see to the specific needs of their patients and understand the unique differences that each patient may have in response to a disease or illness.

disclaimer

These clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) are provided by Dayton Children’s for the purpose of educating patients and licensed independent practitioners on generally-recommended courses of treatment for patients with the identified health needs. These CPGs do not establish a standard of care to be followed in every case, and they are not substitutes for the advice of licensed independent practitioners.

Individual patients may require different treatments from those specified in these CPGs. Methods of reasonable care other than those described in these CPGs may be used to obtain or produce the same results. These CPGs cannot address the unique needs of each patient nor the combination of resources available in a particular situation. Deviations from these CPGs may be justified by individual circumstances. Accordingly, licensed independent practitioners should apply these CPGs based on individual patient needs using professional judgment.

Dayton Children’s hereby excludes all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular use or purpose with respect to these CPGs, and these CPGs are provided without any other warranty, express or implied. Dayton Children’s shall not be liable for direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages related to the use of these CPGs.
