Objectives:

  1. Describe history, mechanism of action, and types of anesthetics. 
  2. Recognize signs and symptoms of local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST) and how to treat it.
  3. Explain similarities and differences between types of neuraxial anesthesia techniques (spinal, epidural, and caudal).
  4. Assess peripheral nerve blocks and their applications.
