bio

Seth Kidwell is a nurse practitioner in sleep medicine at Dayton Children's Hospital. His previous experience includes a stent as a nurse practitioner in retail healthcare. He also worked in pediatric cardiology for 10+ years. He did this both as a nuse and nurse practitioner where he routinely worked with families requiring in home supplemental oxygen and pulse oximetry monitoring. This experience has allowed Seth to approach families in a calm and caring way as the unpack complex medical issues and sometimes the scary unknowns of a new diagnosis. He does this while taking each case independently to better understand what this diagnosis might look like for an individual family. He understands pediatric medicine goes well beyond treating the patient and includes walking alongside the family as well to bridge the gap of fear, new knowledge and a complex medical system. He brings his friendly and caring approach to the sleep clinic which is a breath of fresh air to patients and families alike. Seth has a personal knowledge of insomnia through his years as a foster parent, experiencing first hand issues with behavioral sleep patterns and anxiety driven difficulties of sleep onset. He provides both an approach of medicine and therapeutic or behavioral intervention to this. Seth also has experience working with children who have apnea due to neuromuscular degeneration. He loves working in pediatrics because the strength and courage of children inspire him while partering with families to give hope, assurance, and quality of care brings a great deal of honor and humility.

Maybe give us a brochure or pamphlet on what sleep clinic is all about. How does our sleep affect others if your child has sleep apnea or Asthma? They said there was a video but I don't remember watching any when we checked in. It would be nice to have a video in the lobby to watch while we wait for a room. This office and clinic really did not have anything great to engage you in. They have so much space in the front office that it looked like a hotel, which is okay it looks great. I just feel like they can have a display of what the sleep clinic is all about like a tutorial to watch and learn from instead of just sitting in the front office waiting for a room.
