Dr Vavul-Roediger is a graduate of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. She completed a pediatrics residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH, and a fellowship in Child Abuse Pediatrics at Brown Medical School in Providence, RI. Dr Vavul-Roediger is board-certified in both general pediatrics and child abuse pediatrics.
Dr Vavul-Roediger was the former medical director of Forensic Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Since 2006, she has served as the medical director for the Department of Child Advocacy at Dayton Children’s Hospital. She has extensive clinical experience in the assessment and care of pediatric patients presenting with various forms of child maltreatment.
Dr Vavul-Roediger serves as the Chair for the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Child Abuse and Neglect, and is a member of the Ray E. Helfer Society honorary physician society. Dr Vavul-Roediger is the co-chair of the Dayton Children’s Hospital Bioethics Committee. She participates in research focused on child abuse and neglect. Dr Vavul-Roediger frequently lectures on child maltreatment and related topics to students, physicians and community members.
