Dayton Children's and Wright State University held an event called "Stop the Silence" to raise awareness about communication disorders. Imagine how devastating it would be if you lost the ability to talk due to a stroke or accident and what affect that would have on your life. Some children who receive speech therapy services at Dayton Children's are unable to use their voice to communicate due to congenital problems such as cerebral palsy. Learning to use a computerized device is a very long and complicated process and requires the assistance of a trained speech/language pathologist. Often times, these services are not covered by health insurance. If you are interested in making a donation to support Dayton Children's speech therapy department, call 937-641-3405 or log on to www.childrensdayton.org/donate. Through your generous donation, we can "stop the silence" and give children a voice.
