Kettering Fairmont Spirit Chain Donates $20,000

Fairmont High School in Kettering set a new Spirit Chain record by raising $83,915.33 for three area charities. This annual competition with Centerville High School set a new record for giving. On October 1, 2010, students revealed how much they raised during their "Kettering Cares About Kids" fundraising effort. Dayton Children's received $20,000 for the Comprehensive Care Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders treatment-away fund. This program helps families with children battling cancer. If their treatment requires a procedure at another hospital, the fund helps provide money for travel and lodging for the family.

The Dayton Police Department and the Dayton Fire Department have teamed up with the Dayton Dragons to host “Battle of the Badges,” a charity softball game, on June 23, 2013 to benefit the CARE House. The Dragons host the Lansing Lugnuts at 4 PM that afternoon and the softball game between Dayton’s finest will follow.
