"Karen has gone the extra mile by being a resource for the nurse at my local school. Our nurse, like many school nurses, is stretched very thin between several buildings, and is dealing with higher acuity students at the schools. Karen was recently helpful to her by sharing information about central venous lines, as we were to possibly have a child attend school with a PICC. I know our nurse, Betty, was very appreciative for the information and the time Karen spent with her on the telephone. Karen also offered herself as a resource for any questions Betty might have in the future. I think this is a wonderful example of our hospital’s mission and the SPIRIT Standards we set for all employees. Karen went out of her way to not only share professional information with a fellow nurse, but to assure that the children in the community have the best care – even while outside this hospital."

The Dayton Police Department and the Dayton Fire Department have teamed up with the Dayton Dragons to host “Battle of the Badges,” a charity softball game, on June 23, 2013 to benefit the CARE House. The Dragons host the Lansing Lugnuts at 4 PM that afternoon and the softball game between Dayton’s finest will follow.
