The Pediatric Sleep Center has added a new service to our already comprehensive program. Zach Woessner, PsyD, licensed clinical psychologist at Dayton Children's, is now providing behavioral sleep medicine services to infants, children and teens. Dr. Woessner received comprehensive training from a specailized behavioral sleep medicine program in Columbus.
Dr. Woessner provides care for children and consultation for parents. He recently explained, “We are excited to provide this new service in order to help the parents and the child address the issues before they continue to worsen. It’s very important for kids to get adequate sleep while they are growing and developing.”
Behavioral sleep medicine is a specialized field that addresses behavioral dimensions of normal and abnormal sleep and the prevention, assessment and treatment of sleep disorders and associated behavioral and emotional problems. Behavioral sleep conditions can include nightmares and night terrors, bedtime stalling, sleep delay, apnea and more.
Behavioral sleep medicine is a relatively new specialty and Dayton Children's is proud to be one of only a small number of facilities offering services in the United States.
This new service is offered every Tuesday afternoon. Patients are evaluated and cared for in the sleep clinic.
A physician referral is required for behavioral sleep services. Refer your patients through the sleep clinic online, by fax to 937-641-4500 or by phone 937-641-4000 to central scheduling.
