Job Description
The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton is recruiting for a Director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. This is a full time position directing Dayton Children’s (DC) Comprehensive Care Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, one of 10 Pediatric Cancer Centers with American College of Surgeons accreditation, with an academic appointment with the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University at the associate or professor level.
The division of Hematology/Oncology sees approximately 45-50 new oncology patients a year, and has an established neuro oncology program as well as a Long Term Follow-Up Clinic for cancer survivors. The division is a recognized member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). The Western Central Ohio Hemophilia Treatment Center serves about 590 patient with bleeding and thrombotic disorders. The West Central Ohio Comprehensive Sickle Cell program is one of 6 state funded centers managing newborn screening and serving over 140 patients with sickle cell diseases. Patients are also seen at offsite clinics. The division is staffed by three board certified Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist, CPHON certified nurses as well as social workers, psychologist, child life therapist, nutritionist, and massage therapist. Education and training is provided to residents and medical students.
The director provides oversight for the entire service line ensuring efficient and quality care is provided in a warm and caring environment producing excellent patient satisfaction. Responsibilities include adequate physician staffing, and, in conjunction with the directors and administrative staff, adequate personnel and equipment to provide quality and safe care; staff, resident and medical student education & training; academic and research environment within the department; promotes and leads COG activities and works with development for philanthropic efforts.
The successful candidate will be board certified and licensed in the state of Ohio and will have leadership and managerial expertise to develop the division further clinically and academically. Compensation is provided through the Children’s Care Group rewarding productivity as well as excellent patient care.
