Job Description

Dayton Children’s is recruiting for a physician to help staff our new Sports Medicine Department scheduled to open in early 2014.  This is a half-time position providing care at Dayton Children’s and in Springboro, Ohio.  

The position requires a general pediatrician or family medicine MD or DO, completion of a pediatric sports medicine fellowship, board certification or board eligible candidate and medical licensure/licensable in Ohio.   The successful candidate will be employed by the hospital’s Children’s Care Group.

One of 50 freestanding children’s hospitals in the country, Dayton Children’s was founded on the hopes and dreams of some very dedicated community members who wanted to meet a need for pediatric care in our region.  Today, Dayton Children’s is a leader in delivering highly specialized care to infants, children, teens and young adults from a 20-county region known as the Miami Valley.

With 250 active staff physicians in more than 35 specialties, the 155-bed Dayton Children’s is home to:

•The level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit (41 beds) that provides the highest level of care in the region.

•A pediatric intensive care unit that leads the county in quality practices.

•The region’s only pediatric trauma and emergency center where more than 180 children are seen each day.

•One of 11 accredited pediatric cancer care programs in the nation

•An advanced pediatric surgery center where nearly 12,000 surgeries are performed each year.

Affiliated with the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, Dayton Children’s offers residency programs for each pediatric subspecialty.  In addition, Dayton Children’s has partnered with Wright Patterson Air Force Base to provide pediatric training to military physicians.  This is the only such program of its kind between the Air Force and a civilian hospital.

The 1st Annual Logan X. Hess Stop Child Abuse Poker Run and Car Show will take place August 3. The ride begins at the Piqua American Legion and ends at Edison Community College. The car show will be at Edison Community College.

All bike entries MUST be registered with the Dayton Police in advance at go.cityofdayton.org or at the Festival at 5:30 PM.
