Humor

Raising children is a serious endeavor. We feel under a great deal of pressure to do the right thing, fearful that a mistake on our part will have everlasting dire consequences. Sometimes, it just feels like we have lost the fun of raising kids, particularly as our children get older and deal with serious issues of peer pressure, drug usage and sexuality.

Try this:

Keep humor in your family. Go see a funny movie with your teenager, poke fun at yourself or your spouse, and try to find some humor in life’s daily events. Bring home a book of political humor from the bookstore, or try reading through the latest Mad magazine.

Humor can relieve the pressure at home and help create an atmosphere that allows you to deal with the serious matters of parenthood.
