There are times when problems with our children are actually a reflection of issues going on in our personal lives. It’s difficult balancing family, work and personal responsibilities. Sometimes the best thing you can do is take some time for yourself.
Many parents fail at setting aside time for themselves because their plans are too ambitious. Try to find 10 minutes in the day to go for a walk, read a magazine article, or simply listen to music. It may not seem like much, but it will start a habit of setting some time for you to simply relax, reflect and gain some perspective.
Don’t be too ambitious and try to start a new hobby or begin a sophisticated exercise regimen. Such projects usually fail because they feel overwhelming in conjunction to all your other responsibilities.
