The key to weight control is exercise. Unfortunately, many parents fail in their efforts because they are unable to sustain a moderate exercise program on a regular basis.
Establish a simple family routine of walking around the block every day after dinner. Even this modest amount of exercise can have significant effects as well as provide an opportunity for the family to be together and talk for a few moments without the distraction of TV and cell phones. If this becomes a successful habit, you can build upon that activity and establish other family exercise habits.
