Joint venture of Dayton Childrenís and Nationwide Childrenís

Ohio Pediatric Care Alliance opens March 24, 2014

03-20-2014 (Dayton, OH) -

Officials at Dayton Children’s Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital are pleased to announce their joint outpatient specialty care center will open March 24, 2014. The Ohio Pediatric Care Alliance was formed last October to improve access to highly specialized pediatric services for all Springfield area families.

The Ohio Pediatric Care Alliance is designed to reduce duplication of services and improve efficiencies and allow for the two independent children’s hospitals to work together in the Springfield area to improve access to subspecialty pediatric care, execute shared initiatives and evaluate needs for new services.

The two children’s hospitals will deliver services at 1644 N. Limestone Street in Springfield.  The specialty center is located next door to Pediatric Associates of Springfield.  Dayton Children’s will move its services from its current Springfield location at the MercyCrest Medical Arts Building.

Pediatric specialty services available at the joint location include cardiology; ear, nose and throat (ENT); endocrinology/diabetes, gastroenterology, neurology, pediatric surgery and pulmonary.  Genetic counseling, Child Lab and medical imaging services will also be available.  New to Springfield as part of this venture will be X-ray and ultrasound.  Pulmonary function testing, electrocardiogram (EKG), echocardiograms and electroencephalography (EEG) will also be available.

“Dayton Children’s strategic roadmap, Destination 2020, calls for strong care alliances to improve access to quality pediatric care for the children of our region. We are thrilled about this new alliance which enables us to better meet the needs of families and community physicians in the Springfield area,” says Dayton Children’s president and CEO Deborah A. Feldman.

In most cases, a referral is required to be seen by a Dayton Children’s or Nationwide Children’s specialist or for any testing.  Appointments are required for most services except laboratory, X-ray, EKG, ultrasound and concussion testing.  Lab and imaging services are available 8:30 am to 8:00 pm Monday to Friday and 8:30 to 2:00 pm Saturday.
