special attention for first seizures

Dayton Children’s neurology department now offers a “first seizure clinic” in the epilepsy center. Patients will be seen by a neurologist along with a nurse practitioner and have an EEG completed the same day. Extensive seizure education, an individualized plan of care and care-coordination will be ensured.

Inclusion criteria: Any child with a new onset convulsive seizure.

Appointments will be available weekly at Dayton Children’s main campus and the newly expanded south campus in Springboro.

Patients with staring spells and other events suspicious for seizures will be seen in the regular neurology clinic.
