Kohl’s Cares® and Dayton Children’s offer a new car seat app

Ensuring that your child has the right car seat is extremely important but with so many options and information out there it’s hard to know what car seat to choose. Kohl’s Cares ® and The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, through their Kohl’s A Minute for Kids program, want to help you keep your children safe.  They have created a car seat a “Safety On the Go” Car Seat App to help parents make the correct decisions on how to properly choose and use car seats. This application is downloadable to smart phones and highlights information including:

  • Choosing the right car seat
  • Browsing all car seat types
  • Surprising car seat facts
  • Installation help

“We want this information to be accessible to parents – literally at their fingertips,” says Jessica Saunders, community relations manager at Dayton Children’s and project manager for the Kohl’s A Minute for Kids program. “Our easy to use app follows the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for car seats and best practices in the child passenger safety world. By simply typing in a child’s age, height and weight parents can learn best practices through all phases of the car seat progression – from rear-facing infant seats to adult seat belts.”

The 2012-2013 Kohl's A Minute for Kids program focuses on unintentional injuries resulting from children and families being "on the go" including bicycle injuries, motor vehicle crashes, teen driving incidents and children being left alone inside hot vehicles. With data from our recent pediatric health assessment as well as information from our trauma registry, Kohl’s Cares ® and Dayton Children’s knows that thousands of children in our service area could be spared injuries and emergency room visits by learning more about these injury risks.
