Meet Heidi Hennessy
Heidi Hennessy of Troy has served on the Women's Board at Dayton Children’s for five years. She has served as secretary of the executive committee and is chair of CHA-CHA 2011.
“When asked to serve on the Women's Board at Dayton Children’s, I didn't hesitate to accept the responsibility, says Heidi. “As a mother of five, I have experienced firsthand the importance of having a local children's hospital.”
Heidi’s 17-year-old son, Josh, was born with a serious heart defect and spent the first weeks of his life in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Dayton Children’s. Josh continues to be treated in the Cardiology Department at Dayton Children’s. All of her children have experienced various visits to the hospital, for things as serious as post-heart surgery complications, to stitches and broken bones.
Heidi supports causes that are important to her family. She has been active with the American Heart Association, participated in the Heart Walk and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Overfield Early Childhood Program where all of our children attended pre-school.
Hennessy graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in business and a concentration in human resources and marketing. She is currently the director of human resources at Hartzell Propeller in Piqua. Outside of work and volunteering, she loves to spend time with her family and enjoys cooking, reading, running, tennis and cycling.
Meet Julie Taylor
Julie Taylor of Kettering has been a part of the Women’s Board for four years and is excited to be the co-chair for CHA-CHA 2011. A University of Dayton graduate, she is currently the communications director at St. Albert the Great School. Julie is an advocate for groups supporting women and children. She served as Chair of the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery Associate Board and is a board member and facilitator for The Oak Tree Corner. Julie feels honored to work with such a talented, generous group of ladies on the Women’s Board to prepare for CHA-CHA 2011.
Julie is a Zumba groupie, enjoys a great yoga class, loves to read the latest novels and spends her free time with family and friends. She and her husband Rick have two very busy sons and a Bischon named Cha Cha.

Together, Heidi and Julie have already been working hard to position this event for success and are excited to share their passion for this important fundraiser with the community.
“We are excited and honored to chair CHA-CHA 2011. The theme for the evening is “Reasons to Celebrate,” says Heidi. “We are changing things up a bit this year to include live entertainment, fewer live auction items and a lively silent auction featuring platinum, gold and silver level items. It is our hope that the attendees will join us in celebration of children’s lives made better as a result of Dayton Children’s, one of only 50 freestanding children’s hospitals in the country.”
CHA-CHA 2011 will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Sinclair’s Ponitz Center.
