Dayton Children's welcomes new hospitalist and infectious disease specialist

04-18-2013 (Dayton, OH) - Ryan Simon, MD, has recently joined the department of infectious disease and inpatient general pediatric division at Dayton Children’s. Dr. Simon joins as a Wright State Physician and provides care for patients at Dayton Children's, as well as Miami Valley Hospital and Soin Medical Center.

Dr. Simon completed a fellowship in infectious disease at Pennsylvania State University-Hershey Medical Center and a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Wright State University. He received his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean Medical School in St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles, and is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible in pediatrics and infectious disease.

Dr. Simon joins Sherman Alter, MD, and Hila Collins, CPNP, in the infectious disease department as well as the team of pediatricians who provide care for infants, children and teens admitted to general pediatric units at Dayton Children's.

The department of infectious disease offers a diagnostic and treatment program for children and adolescents. In addition to direct patient care evaluation, the department also cares for various aspects of pediatric AIDS, antimicrobial therapy, immunization use, hospital infection control and the care of children with evidence of immunologic dysfunction.

Dayton Children’s inpatient attending service consists of a team of full-time pediatricians who provide care for infants, children and teens who are patients of community practitioners.

Upcoming Events

Free bike helmets will be given out as part of the Monroe Bike Rodeo this year.

The 1st Annual Logan X. Hess Stop Child Abuse Poker Run and Car Show will take place August 3. The ride begins at the Piqua American Legion and ends at Edison Community College. The car show will be at Edison Community College.

West Carrollton Police will be on hand to insure proper fit for all bike helmets.

Sample the distinctive flavors of the many cultures of Old North Dayton while enjoying entertainment, children's activities and a bicycle decoration competition for ages 9-16. All bike entries MUST be registered with the Dayton Police in advance at go.cityofdayton.org or at the Festival at 5:30 PM.
