Dayton Children’s IS Department ranks nationally

The IS Department at The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton was ranked in the top 125 in Healthcare IT News' 2012 "Where To Work: BEST Hospital IT Departments" workplace survey. More than 10,000 IT employees from 277 nominated hospitals participated in the survey.

Beth Fredette, director of IS and chief information officer at Dayton Children’s nominated the department based upon their hard work and dedication ‘behind the scenes’ of patient care. IT is such an integral part of all aspects of patient care and hospital operations,” says Fredette. “Our department is dedicated to collaborative partnerships with the entire organization and consists of a team of talented, caring and dedicated individuals.”

The program's goal is to determine what characteristics distinguish the best hospital IT departments from all the rest.  Departments were graded across seven categories: day-to-day work, IT team, management, hospital leadership, workplace culture, training and development, and compensation.

Critical Insights, a market research company based in Portland, Maine, is analyzing survey results to determine which hospitals--out of the top 125--will be named one of 2012's top 25 hospital IT departments. The top hospitals will be profiled in an October supplement of Healthcare IT News in print and online.
