Speedway donation helps Dayton Children’s purchase transport vehicle

With the donation of more than $293,000 from Speedway LLC’s (Speedway) 2010 fundraising campaign, Dayton Children’s was able to purchase a new transport vehicle to be unveiled at Speedway’s corporate office in Enon, Ohio, on March 24.

The annual campaign raises money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a charity organization that raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals. This year’s fundraising donation generated by Speedway’s campaign was a record breaking $5.6 million. The new transport vehicle Dayton Children’s was able to buy will help save even more children’s lives throughout the region.

Dayton Children’s transport vehicles are the only mobile intensive care units licensed for newborns and children in the region which spans 20 counties from Lima to Cincinnati and Richmond to Columbus. Yearly, up to 500 newborns are transported from hospitals to Dayton Children’s Regional Level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Additionally, the hospital’s pediatric team transports more than 900 critically ill or injured infants and children from area hospital emergency rooms to Dayton Children’s.

The generous donation from Speedway employees, customers and vendors will be instrumental in helping Dayton Children’s excel in providing the best care possible for the region’s children.

“We are so grateful to Speedway’s employees, customers and vendors for their generous support each year,” says Debbie Butner, Children’s Miracle Network manager at Dayton Children’s.  “These transport vehicles are critical to the lives of the babies and children in our region. Thanks to Speedway, we continue to provide this service which makes a difference in these young lives.”
