Includes:Color, appearance, specific gravity, pH, protein, glucose, occult blood, ketones, bilirubin, leukocyte esterase, nitrite, urobilinogen.

Microscopic examination will be performed if protein, blood, leukocyte esterase, or nitrite is positive.

Container:Plastic urine container with lid
Temperature:Deliver to laboratory within 1 hour or refrigerate.
Rejection:Urine over 4 hours old.
Normal:Glucose, bilirubin, ketone, blood, nitrite, leukocyte esterase should be negative. PH 4.5 - 8.0 Protein Negative to Trace Urobilinogen 0.2 - 1.0 g/dL
Uses:Screen for abnormalities of urine. Diagnosis and management of renal disease, urinary tract infections, systemic diseases and dehydration.
Limitations:Less than 2 mL may limit the extent of the procedures performed. Substances that cause abnormal urine color may affect the reading of the reagent pads on the dipstick.
