Rejection:Will attempt to extract DNA and perform assay if hemolysis or clotting are present or if blood is in a preservative other than EDTA.
Normal:N/N genotype for each locus
Uses:To detect the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase mutation associated with hyperhomocysteinemia and vascular disease. This test is also included in the Thrombophilia Panel.
Limitations:This asssay detects ONLY the C677T and A1298C mutations in the MTHFR gene.
