Container:Sterile tube or container
Temperature:Room temperature, transport to lab within 30 minutes. Refrigerate if delay in transport.
Rejection:Frozen specimen
Submitted in non-sterile container
Normal:No growth at 2 days. No organisms seen on smear.
Uses:Identify organisms causing urinary tract infection.
Limitations:Antibiotic therapy may inhibit growth.
