|Volume:||If there is a choice, biopsy the sural nerve at the level of the lateral malleolus. Obtain a 2.0 cm long portion of the entire nerve or several fascicles.|
|Container:||Place the specimen on saline-moistened Telfaź in a petri dish. Take the petri dish to the Histopathology Laboratory within 3 minutes.|
|Temperature:||The specimen is processed as per protocol and is sent to the designated outside laboratory.|
|Rejection:||Specimen submitted in fixative.|
|Normal:||Diagnosis by pathologist.|
|Uses:||To evaluate neurological disease.|
|Limitations:||If there is a delay in receiving the specimen, the electron microscopy will show poor preservation of ultrastructures of the cells.|
